What You Didn’t Know About Akın Akınözü Until Now

Akın Akınözü was born on 22 September 1990 who is a Turkish actor known for playing Miran in the successful Turkish TV series Hercai. With his good looks, he already melts many of his female fans’ hearts. Besides Akin is highly appreciated for his acting. By the way, did you know everything about him?

1. Early Life

Akın Akınözü was born in Ankara, Turkey. He is the only child of actress Özlem Akınözü and restaurant owner Tamer Akınözü. His first name is Süreyya which many people didn’t know before.

His maternal grandfather was one of the first TV presenters on TRT (Turkish Radio and Television).

2. Educational Background

Akınözü attended Ankara TED High School. Later he studied Applied Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. He lived there for around 6 years before deciding to become an actor.

Learning mathematics means learning the universal language for me. The reason I chose Mathematics at university was to learn this universal language. As my understanding of mathematics grew, I realized that this language found application everywhere. I also chose acting as a practice for myself because I am more excited about problems with people, emotions, and storytelling.

In fact, the actor who graduated from the mathematics department in America changed his profession with the encouragement of his mother.

3. Acting Career

Akınözü studied acting at the CRAFT Acting Workshop and is currently working under Gökçe Altan Agency.

After receiving his acting training, the handsome actor stepped into the character of Gaffur in the movie Kosac “The Reaper” (2014). Later he appeared in the tv series Magnificent Century Kösem (2015) portraying Ivan Ali and Arkadaşlar İyidir (2016). He is also known for the character of Ömer in the TV series Payitaht Abdülhamid (2017).

4. International Fame

Before the Hercai series, Akın acted as “Murat Aslan” in Aslan Ailem (2017) alongside Burcu Özberk. And this is his first leading TV series.

In 2019, he plays the character of “Miran Aslanbey” in the series Hercai. And as you can see it’s quite different from his previous roles. He became more mature and physically changed a lot!

Akınözü’s performance as Miran in Hercai has earned him awards such as the Spanish television station Premio Nova Más’s Best Male Actor and Mister Nova 2019. 

Akin completed his required 3 weeks of military service on June 28th, 2019. 

5. Relationships

While the private life of Hercai star is always under the spotlight by his fans, Akin continues a happy relationship with Sandra Pestemalciyan. He met Sandra seven years ago in the USA and their romance is still blooming.

Sandra is already very integrated into his family. Recently the actor stated that he did not propose to his lover.  He said,

It was thought so. But there is no marriage situation for now.

6. Favorite Things & Hobbies

The first thing on Akin’s to-do list is “travel to a lot of places”

I’ve been curious about the Pyramids of Egypt since childhood. As a pescatarian, Mediterranean cuisine is the most appropriate for me. My favorite food is sushi.

Do you know that he is a dog lover? His handsome dog’s name is Archie. His favorite philosopher is the Greek philosopher, Epictetus.

Akin’s all-time favorite books are “Finland: The Country of White Lilies” by Gregory Petrov, Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám”, and “1984 (Nineteen Eighty-Four)” by George Orwell.

In an interview, he shared that he is an admirer of Christopher Nolan. You should have guessed right that someone who studied mathematics, would admire a director of Inception, Interstellar, and Memento. 

One of his favorite Hollywood movies is The Matrix. His favorite turkish movies are Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da and Kis Uykusu.

His favorite actors are Daniel Day-Lewis from Lincoln and Joaquin Phoenix from the Joker movie.
HBO’s Game of Thrones and Netflix’s Dark is his favorite TV series.
